Using a Photoshopped picture of a kid standing over the Milwaukee skyline, Businessweek.com named its "Best Places to Raise Your Kids" in Wisconsin (and the other 49 states) this week.
Their picks? Oshkosh, Eau Claire and West Allis. Oshkosh was number one, followed by runners up Eau Claire and West Allis. West Allis, obviously, was the only suburb of Milwaukee mentioned.
Business Week said this about Oshkosh, "Oshkosh, a community of 65,000 located on the west shore of Lake Winnebago, is best known for the Experimental Aircraft Association, which holds an annual air show each year. It also has a mall, a new hospital, an indoor hockey and soccer rink, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh."
According to the site and magazine, "Tinley Park, IL with its top-rated schools, low crime, beautiful parks, relatively affordable houses, and easy access to jobs, is the winner of BusinessWeek's Best Places in America to Raise Kids." Business Week worked with OnBoard Informatics, and "chose a winner for each state, but the Chicago suburb (Tinley Park)—only an hour south of last year's winner, Mount Prospect, Ill.—scored the highest."
