The work week flies by when it's a day shorter, doesn't it? Believe it or not, the weekend is almost here, and it looks like a green one. Take the family to the any of the outdoor markets opening this weekend, check out the Bay View plant sale or catch the "Smokey The Bear and Woodsy Owl" exhibit at the Betty Brinn Museum.

FARMER'S MARKETS OPEN SHOP
The Milwaukee Public Market goes outdoors starting this Saturday! The Outdoor Urban Market kicks off the summer with vendors showcasing some of the best arts, foods and crafts in Milwaukee. This weekly event takes place along St. Paul Avenue just outside the Market.

BAY VIEW PLANT SALE
If you didn't already get your garden in the ground, start this weekend. The Bay View Plant Sale hosts a variety of local and commercial plant vendors at the Bay View Garden and Yard Society Annual Plant Sale. Shoppers will be able to purchase their choice of hundreds of plants, including some of the best exotic heirloom favorites, perennials, annuals, ornamental trees, shrubs, herbs, hanging baskets and tropical plants. Plus, knowledgeable gardening club members will also be on hand to answer questions about gardening.

FIRST CHURCH FEST OF THE YEAR
The season of church festivals starts with an all weekend event at St. Aloysius. Eat a classic fish fry and music from the Rockerfellers on Friday night or see Mt. Olive perform on Saturday. On Sunday, get up early for the polka mass and stay for a chicken dinner at noon. Bring the whole family for children's activities and entertainment including a clown performance.

SMOKEY THE BEAR
"Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl: Home Sweet Home" is a new green-built exhibit developed by the Betty Brinn Children's Museum in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service. The exhibit includes a variety of educational activities, costumes, puppets and props that will be especially appealing for children ages 2-8.
